Calcetas en Filoscozia® Nobile 1982 - Preguntas frecuentes

What is the difference between certified Filoscozia® and regular "lisle cotton"?

The main difference lies in the supply chain and the raw material. For a complete comparison of Filoscozia® and mercerised cotton, you can consult our dedicated guide.

Certified Filoscozia® is born from a rigorous selection of extra-long staple Makò cotton, hand-picked and traceable: it is a yarn designed to reach a superior standard in fineness, quality and durability.

Moreover, authentic Filoscozia® comes with a certification and authenticity system (such as a label/hologram), which guarantees the origin of the yarn and compliance with the production specifications.

What type of cotton is used for certified Filoscozia®?

We use extra-long staple cotton (33/35 mm+), hand-picked, with certified provenance and without the use of harmful defoliants.

It is precisely the length and quality of the fibre that gives softness, clean touch and greater stability over time.

Where does Nobile's Filoscozia® come from?

The selection starts from extra-long cotton varieties grown on the banks of the Nile, in Egypt, and hand-picked to preserve the integrity and quality of the fibre.

From here a yarn is born that aims for the highest standards in terms of fineness and quality.

Are Nobile's Filoscozia® socks shiny and durable?

Yes. The final result comes from high-quality craftsmanship, including mercerisation, a treatment that:

gives a more lustrous and "polished" appearance,

enhances colour quality,

increases the compactness and durability of the fabric.

Note: the term "lisle cotton" is often used to indicate mercerised cotton; the difference, in our case, is that we add an extra-long, selected and certified raw material to the mercerisation.

Do Nobile Filoscozia® socks leave skin dry or irritated?

NO: Filoscozia® is chosen precisely to offer a soft and gentle feel.

Obviously skin is subjective, but the goal of our yarn selection is to minimise friction and irritation, for a comfort that "you forget about"

Do Filoscozia® models make your feet sweat?

Tends to be less than with more common yarns: high-quality Filoscozia® is valued for its fine and breathable weave, which helps maintain a drier feel during everyday wear.

How do I choose socks for a blue suit in summer?

Opt for lightweight, breathable socks in neutral tones or coordinated with the suit colour.

The ideal would be to use Chiffon Filoscozia® or Nobile Silk. Also discover our guide on men's shoes and socks for a blue suit.

What socks to wear with dress shoes?

Choose elegant Nobile knee-high socks and absolutely avoid socks that are too short. Don't opt for white and choose elegant socks in Filoscozia® or Makò.

Which Nobile socks to choose with a blue or dark grey suit?

It depends on the tone of the suit and the effect you want to achieve. With a navy blue, one of the most elegant and versatile choices is blue (tone on tone). Black socks, on the other hand, work best with a very dark navy blue or with a dark grey (almost black).

If you want a more sophisticated and contemporary look, with Nobile 1982 you can also add personality to the outfit by choosing coloured socks as a style detail, always maintaining a coherent and refined palette.

How to choose comfortable socks?

To choose truly comfortable socks (like Nobile 1982 socks) we recommend following these 5 key points:

Check the yarn quality

Comfort starts with the raw material: a premium yarn is softer, more stable and more pleasant on the skin.

Choose a sock with graduated fit

A good sock should adhere naturally, without tightening at specific points and without slipping down during the day.

Check that the cuff has quality elasticity (e.g. Lycra)

A well-designed cuff stays in place without leaving visible marks and without causing discomfort.

Put comfort and quality before aesthetics

An elegant sock that isn't comfortable is immediately noticeable. With Nobile 1982 the goal is to combine both: style and real comfort.

Try them with your shoes

The final test should always be done with the shoes you'll be wearing: Oxford, Derby, loafers or trainers. That's where you'll know if the thickness and fit are perfect.

Why do some socks slip down?

The difference between a sock that slips down and one that doesn't lies right here: At Nobile we have specifically designed socks that don't slip down. How? The Lycra cuff ensures a secure and comfortable hold, keeping the socks in place all day long, without excessively compressing the calf.

How to match sock colour?

At Nobile 1982 we match the sock colour with a clear rule: the sock should harmonise with shoes, trousers and jacket, not with just one element. The best result is always the "cleanest" and most coherent, without forced contrasts.

If you want to play it safe every day, at Nobile we recommend always having these three essential shades:

Black

Dark blue (navy)

Dark grey (charcoal)

With these three Nobile socks you can match practically your entire wardrobe with ease, as they are elegant and versatile colours, perfect for both formal and smart-casual looks.

And if you want a more modern touch, with Nobile 1982 you can use the sock as a style detail (colour or texture), as long as it stays within a refined palette and the overall look remains balanced.
